National Novel Writing Month: Welcome

A guide to library resources and websites to help you write your novel!

Get ready for ...

Have you ever wanted to write a novel? National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. The goal is to write a 50,000-word (approximately 175-page) novel during the month of November.

How does it work?

Sign up on the NaNoWriMo website to access how-to materials, make writer friends in the forums, join your local region(s) to see what’s going on nearby, pop in on the occasional virtual event hosted by NaNo HQ, make buddies and join writing groups, get inspired by pep talks from authors like Gene Luen Yang, Roxane Gay, Kacen Callender, John Green, and N. K. Jemisin, and—of course—track your writing progress, novel or otherwise.

How can the library help?

We have lots of writing resources in print and online (check out the next tab), plus the library is a great place to write. Find a quiet spot, soak up the inspiring atmoshphere of books and fellow students hard at work, and let your creative juices flow!
