Before using generative AI tools in your classes, review the syllabus for the instructor’s AI policy or consult your instructor directly.
Generative AI (GAI) is a type of artificial intelligence that can create new content, like text, images, or code, based on what it has learned from existing data. These AI models, known as large language models (LLMs), can understand and respond to human language, making them useful for tasks like writing, answering questions, and generating computer code. They work by predicting and generating content based on the input they receive. To get the best results from generative AI, users can use different techniques, called prompt engineering, to design their questions or instructions in a way that helps the AI give more useful and accurate responses.
The Library does not promote any specific generative AI (GAI) tools, but some instructors may incorporate them into their courses or research. Below is a list of widely used GAI tools. Please note that publicly available AI tools may pose privacy risks, and you should avoid entering any personally identifiable information or data.
