Following is a selection of books in the Foothill Library on Latino history and culture. To find more books on these subjects, try subject searches using the following terms:

How to Find Books

Use OneSearch to find books and e-books, videos, articles, digital media, and more. Make sure you sign-in with your CWID to get the best user experience. To search for books in the library's print collection, choose "Library Catalog" from the drop-down menu as shown below:

Once you click on a book's title from the list of search results, you'll see the following information:

  • Send To allows you to print out the record, automatically cite it in MLA, APA, Chicago/Turabian, or Harvard styles, create a direct link to the item, or email the record to yourself.
  • Get It shows the basic information about the book: the location, call number, availability, and loan period. This is the information you use to find the physical book in the Library.
  • Details provides all the publication information for item, plus the item's subject headings, which are clickable links and may give you ideas for other searches to try. Details may also include a description and the table of contents.

Books that are available to be checked out are located in the STACKS. Ask a librarian to point you in the right direction.

Films

How to Use Films on Demand

The following instructions are a quick introduction on how to find, organize, and share films from Films on Demand. At the end, there is also a link to a pdf from Films on Demand with more detailed instructions that you can download or print. TO FIND VIDEOS

SEARCHING: You can search for videos by entering keywords, phrases or titles into the textbox on the main page. To perform more complex searches that combine terms, click "advanced search."

BROWSING BY SUBJECT: You can also browse videos by subject. From the main page, click the three bar icon on the top left of the screen. This will open the menu with the list of subjects that you can use to find relevant videos.  

TO SAVE & ORGANIZE VIDEOS

SAVING VIDEOS: To save videos to a personal folder, click on "Add to" and the plus icon below the video. From your search results, the icon will appear under the description. From the view video page, it will appear under the video player. After clicking the icon, it will ask you to add the video to an existing folder or to create a new one.

ORGANIZING VIDEOS:  To access and organize the videos that you have saved, click on your profile name and then "My Content."

Once you have accessed your content folders, you can rearrange the videos in the list by clicking the "Actions" dropbox on the right. They can also be automatically sorted by title, video type and creation date by clicking on those fields at the top of the list. 

TO SHARE VIDEOS

SHARING VIDEOS: To share a video from your content folder, use the Action dropdown to select Share. To share a video from your search results, click the share icon under the video description.

 A window will open with a form for emailing the video. You can also click the Embed video tab to access a link to the video or code that you can embed in your website.
