LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that assists in finding PDF files of articles seen on the internet. It's easy to install, configure, and use. This service has been recently added to our other information literacy and access services to help students navigate information online and using said information in their assignments.
LibKey Nomad is straightforward to use. After you set up the extension by selecting your organization, a badge will pop up at the bottom of your browser window when you encounter a source included in De Anza College's offerings. LibKey Nomad checks for access in relation to the library databases, public domain resources, and Open Access resources.
Entries in Wikipedia, PubMed, and Google Scholar will have badges pop up next to the entry. Clicking on the badge will open the source through the library's collection. You will be prompted to sign in if you are not already signed into MyPortal. Here is an example of a Wikipedia article entry:
You can find access to eBooks, PDFs, and links to articles through the library databases. Entries like the one above can be found in the References/Cited Works of Wikipedia pages.
