Library Materials Waitlists and Requests: Home

Instructions for getting on waitlists for library materials.

General Information

Welcome to the Library's Waitlist and Requesting Guide

Library materials are available on a first come, first served basis. If the material you want is unavailable, you may be able to get on a waitlist.

Important Information for Loans and Waitlists:

  • Textbooks and technology with a quarter-long loan period, and items from the general collections, are eligible for waitlists. Short-term loan items, such as day-use laptops, do not have waitlists.
  • If you get on a waitlist for an item, be patient. The wait time for materials that are not currently available will vary.
  • Being on the waitlist is not a guarantee that you will receive an item.
  • For laptops and tablets: You may place yourself on the waitlist for more than one type of item. If you do this, you will receive the first available item. Remember that you may only borrow one laptop or one tablet, not both.
  • If an item you are waiting for becomes available, you will receive an email notification that it is available for pickup.
    • Items can be held for one business day. For example, if you receive your notification on Monday, the item can be picked up during open hours Monday or Tuesday.
    • If you need more time to pick up your items, contact us via email at dalibraryhelpdesk@fhda.edu, or send us a note via the chat box at deanza.edu/library. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.
  • All students who check out laptops, Wi-fi hotspots, or tablets must sign a Technology Borrower Agreement. We will give you the form when you come to collect your item, or you can print the PDF from the link below, fill it out, and bring it with you.

For information about loan periods, overdue and lost policies, and fees, see the Loans, Fees, and Replacement Policies webpage.
