The library's position in the original campus space was determined for it to "occupy a dominant position to the academic area." It and the campus center are central keystones of the original campus.
The Le Petit Triannon building was relocated in its entirety when it was deemed the Library would be built in that location.
There are 18 computers located on the first floor of the Library, between the front Circulation Desk and the Reference Desk.
The Library's renovation was completed in 2015. Prior to that the Library was largely the same building from when it was built in 1967. The Library's renovation was featured in an article in The Mercury News.
The College is named after Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza, who explored the valley in the 18th century.
First classes started in 1958. The classes were held at a local high school, before the De Anza campus was completed.
On-campus classes started in September of 1967. Over 3,000 students were in attendance for the first academic year.

The Le Petit Triannon. In 1890, Rear Admiral Charles Baldwin purchased the land De Anza College is currently on. In 1892, Baldwin created a replica of the same building in France. The current building is a replica which has been renovated several times.
The Calvin C. Flint Center for the Performing Arts, or the "Flint Center", is named after District Superintendent Calvin Flint, who retired in 1971. He was the Superintendent since De Anza's first class.
