New Reading List Tool in Canvas

In Summer 2020, the Library embedded a new tool in Canvas called “Reading List.” It allows faculty to create reading lists for students to view without leaving their Canvas course. Students will be able to see in real time how many copies of a required textbook the library has and directly access class readings available in our library databases, links to websites, and instructor-provided digital documents.To learn more about Reading Lists in Canvas, please consult the following resources:

What's New

  • New trial to JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments) Education, a video database dedicated to teaching laboratory fundamentals to undergraduates through simple, easy to understand video demonstrations. Subject areas include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Social Psychology, Psychology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, and Clinical Skills. To get started  head over to and create an account using your email address.  This will guarantee you access remotely and allow you to verify your profile as a faculty account so you may make use of the faculty-specific features -- like embedding and generating quizzes. The trial is active through December 31.
  • Information Literacy Modules in Canvas: import library instruction modules directly into your online course! Please click on the Library Instruction tab for more information.
  • Effective 3/28/18: Due to a reduction in staffing, ILL (borrowing and lending from other libraries) will be suspended until further notice. Please click on the Interlibrary Loan tab for more information.
  • Here are step-by-step instructions for embedding a Films on Demand video in Canvas:
  • Group Study Rooms: the library now has 10 group study rooms. Please visit to reserve a room online.
  • Breakout study spaces: in addition to the Group Study Rooms, there are also 6 breakout spaces where students can work collaboratively.
  • Multimedia Classroom now available: Room 3504 is a 50-seat multimedia classroom equipped with 50 Macs and instructor station. Please contact Denise Perez at to reserve the room.
  • Online Library Instruction Request Form: You may now request a library orientation for your class by using this online form:
  • Reserve Textbook Weekend Lending Program – Extended Loan Period. Please let your students know about the library’s textbook loan program with extended hours for weekend lending -- now from 7:40 a.m. Friday morning until 10 a.m. the following Monday morning.
